Having grown up in a military family and military city, I have always had an appreciation for our servicemen and women. My grandfather served in the Air Force during Korea, my father is a retired Sergeant First Class from the Florida Army National Guard, and both of my uncles served in Vietnam. My Uncle Jim even received a Purple Heart. As the current war has progressed, I have gained an even greater appreciate for our servicemen and women as my cousin and many of my friends have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I unfortunately never had the opportunity to go on a military tour in my 6 years an NFL Cheerleader. I did however appear on the USS Truman in 2007. I have also performed at Tyndale Air Force Base and Naval Air Station Jacksonville on numerous occasions.
I became a sweetheart because I wanted to able to bring cheer, entertainment, and a little piece of home to our brave soldiers as they serve this county abroad. Sweethearts for Soldiers will give me these opportunities. I am so proud to be part of this organization. Thank to all the men and women who serve this country and defend our freedom.
Cheers,
Missy
